Strong variety from southern France

Piment Sucette de Provence is a hot pepper variety from the south of France, renowned for its fiery flavor, which scores 7/10 on the Scoville scale. Its slender 10 cm fruits turn red when ripe, with thin flesh. This variety is appreciated for its strength and intense flavor quality.

How to sow chillies

To sow chillies successfully, we recommend sowing in February-March in pots of fine sowing compost in a greenhouse heated to 25°C.
Chillies need a high temperature at the start of their development and a moderate level of humidity.
Germination generally takes place within 3 weeks.
In May, the seedlings can be transplanted into deep, loose soil, in a warm, sunny position, sheltered from the sun vents50 cm apart in all directions.
Hoeing, watering and mulching are recommended. In cooler regions, greenhouse cultivation is strongly recommended to ensure optimum growth.

The right combinations

Chillies go well with other solanaceous plants such as Peruvian cockroaches, nightshades, peppers, tomatoes and others. This combination can promote the growth and health of chilli plants.

Harvesting chillies

Chillies can be harvested around 5-6 months after sowing, when the fruit is fully ripe. Chillies can be picked as and when required, or sun- or oven-dried for later use.
