Description : Azur Star kohlrabi produces a small round flattened kohlrabi with a mauve blue rind and very tender white flesh. A wonder for all seasons!

Growing Guide

Soil care: Kohlrabi prefers very fertile soil that is kept moist otherwise it becomes fibrous.

Sowing: 1 cm deep in the nursery or in the field, 50 cm between plants and between rows.

Emergence: in 8 days in soil at 20°C.

Watering: regular

Harvest: when the root reaches a minimum weight of 200 g.

Preservation: can be stored in a silo or in a cellar during the winter.

Origin: it is native of the Mediterranean basin. The Romans called it the "Pompei cabbage". It is somewhat neglected nowadays for having been a war food.

Advice from La Semence Bio®: an application of 2 to 3 cm of well decomposed compost is normally sufficient. The growth must be fast and regular to obtain good quality roots.
