What is a CoolTube?

The Cooltube, an interesting reflector!

There are different types of reflectors: the open reflectors and the closed reflectors, available in our category dedicated toReflectors.

Here we will expand a little more on the closed reflectors, and more specifically we will talk about the Glazed and ventilated Cool Tube.

Beginners and experienced growers often use open reflectors, which are affordable and give off a lot of light hPS bulbswhich are affordable and give a lot of lumens to the plant. But this type of HPS bulb also gives off a lot of heat, which becomes annoying when it comes to managing the temperature and internal climate of your grow room.
To remedy this, CoolTube is an effective and often used alternative.

Here are some examples of Cooltube:

Principle of the CoolTube

The CoolTube is designed to evacuate the heat generated by thebulb used.

The CoolTube is a closed, glazed and ventilated reflector. The principle is to enclose the lamp inside the reflector, and more precisthe principle is to enclose the lamp inside the reflector, and more specifically inside a tube of boro silicate glass. This glass will contain the heat emitted by the lamp, keeping it around the lamp and inside the tube: the heat will not escape in theculture chamber the heat will not escape into the chamber and will not increase the internal temperature of the chamber.

CoolTube's have openings at the end designed to be connected to a ventilation duct the CoolTube has openings at the end designed to be connected to a vent: one for the air intake and one for the outlet, in this case to vent the hot air out of the grow room.

On the other hand, this glass which is placed between the lamp and the plant will unfortunately make lose a little of light reflection and your plants will absorb a little less light than with an open reflector. On the other hand, you will be able to give more light to your plants, by choosing higher powers, and by bringing the reflector closer to the top of your plant, while limiting the heat and the temperature in your indoor garden.

Cootubes make installation simple

Simply choose your CoolTube, then check the inlet and outlet diameters, and choose a duct to match the size.

Of course, you will need a extractor to evacuate the heat dissipated by the bulb directly out of yourindoor garden.

The tube will be easily suspended with hooks: either they are provided or you can use Easy roller available on our site.

The advantages of using a Cooltube

Theair extractor connects to the Cooltube and extracts much of the heat produced by the bulb while renewing the air in the garden.

The Cooltube can be positioned as close as possible to the top of the plant: up to 20 cm from a 400 watt bulb for example. This will accelerate the photosynthesis of the plant: the greatest number of lumens is found within 30 cm of the bulb.

Cooltubes are generally low profile, which saves space in your growing area.

The Cooltube principle allows you to connect several Cooltubes in series, with appropriate ventilation. Depending on the size of your grow room, you can connect the duct to a second CoolTube.

Growshops we propose two examples of installations with two cooltube on the same ventilation line:
